The Bridge to Connection

Being a writer is an act of creativity that gives power to ideas and thoughts. Expressing oneself through writing is an act of courage because the writer has the freedom to formulate their opinions about a topic while speaking their truth.
Due to the solitary nature of writing, many professional writers can attest to how writing is a lonely craft. Writers have an innate ability to translate their inner world (thoughts and feelings) into writing that makes readers understand their viewpoint.
Having experienced firsthand what it’s like to write a book, the journey unleashed my creativity, creating an outlet of expression where I felt true freedom. On the other hand, there’s a bizarre loneliness, and a yearning to connect with others, which can be a challenge as many writers are afraid of being misunderstood.
In writing my book Life Hacks for Healing & Harmony, I wrote everyday for two consecutive years. What started out as storytelling and journaling has transformed into a masterpiece memoir about the life, lessons I’ve learned, strategies to triumph over adversity, and universal themes every human being can relate to.
While sitting in my writing cave, some days felt like the twilight zone—immersed in the lonesome world of writing that energized my mind and soul but brought on the paradoxical nature of loneliness and wanting to connect with humanity.
To bridge that gap of feeling isolated, I went with the flow and got comfortable with being uncomfortable by being willing to try something new. For me, that was being interviewed as a guest on podcasts and promoting my book and mission through social media.
As many published authors know, publicity is key in expanding our reach to get our books into the hands of our readers. This means getting out of our comfort zone and diving into the brave new world of speaking on podcasts and creating social media content.
Sitting in the interview chair as a pod guest stirred up feelings of nervousness. I’ve never been a guest on a podcast before, let alone interviewed by someone … I’m also not the best conversationalist, I thought to myself.
Truth is, I had to put my self-limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome aside and instead, embark on an act of bravery and let my voice be heard on the podcast waves. My inner voice whispered, “Be yourself, and don’t be afraid to share your story and knowledge to help others.”
Strangers on the receiving end of these podcasts’ waves would hear how they too can overcome obstacles and attain inner peace.
I caught myself by surprise as I spoke with clarity about my struggle with anxiety and strategies I implemented to overcome this challenge. And as I spoke my truth, I noticed that it came naturally to me to be able to share my wisdom and knowledge to help my fellow human beings.
In conversing with the podcast host, I was building a bridge to “connect with people” on a whole new level. This podcast journey opened up the airwaves and discussions with hosts from around the world such as, India, Australia, South Africa, and United States of America.
I felt connected to people and the greater world around me.
Knowing that my message would reach audiences across the globe to help inspire and make a difference in their lives is so rewarding as it expands my vision for everyone to realize “harmony” in their day-to-day life.
The journey of knowledge sharing becomes a vehicle for the “uniting of voices” as the podcast host would ask questions that help guests tell their stories and spread the word to inspire and help others.
Writing doesn’t have to be a lonely craft anymore. Being a podcast guest opens up the airwaves to a whole new world that bridges the gap between loneliness and connection.
I know you’re wondering, Well, Tara, I’m not a writer or a podcast guest, so I don’t know how this resonates with me. My message for you my friend, is “try something new and do anything that scares you,” then decide to actively pursue it. You’ll be surprised by what you learn by doing just that.

Let this wisdom guide you: being in your comfort zone is overrated because it doesn’t help you evolve as a human being.
I encourage you to act now. Find something you’ve always desired to do for yourself. Then observe how you feel in your mind, body, and soul.
I promise you will thank yourself for having done so.
