Timeless Treasures

As a woman I play many roles. I’m a daughter, niece, granddaughter, sister, wife, and mother. I cherish these roles and regard them with high esteem.
The tricky part about these roles is the balancing act we humans perform to manage the expectations and needs of others while juggling our career and family. For me, I’d overthink this and the monkey mind would chime in with thoughts of “How can I manage to do X, Y, and Z? I need a clone of me to accomplish all I have on my plate then the real me can just savor time spent with those I love.”
The past version of me was always on the go and would be so caught up with being “too busy” with work and whatever else it was I was doing—whether that be yoga, chores, playground hopping with my daughter, and other city life extravaganzas.
The “too busy” excuse cost me time that I was longing to spend with my grandmother when she was still alive. I still carry that bittersweet regret.
Do you ever feel guilty for not spending enough time with those you love? If so, it’s normal to feel that way—you’re human after all. The truth is that life has many layers—it’s complex.
Sometimes we pay the price of missing out on time with loved ones as we prioritize our careers to pay the bills, feed our children, and manage our household. That’s just the reality. But when we do take the time to carve out precious moments with the people we love it’s a magical experience. One that fills our heart and soul with memories we’ll never forget.
These moments are like a delightful sprinkling of joy—a moment we want to freeze and take a snapshot image of, that can be framed and cherished forever, leaving a treasure of imprints on our mind and soul.
I see these moments as blessings. These enchanting moments are like quicksand traveling through time at the speed of light. We want to hold onto these moments forever.
Look for these darling moments. Then catch these moments in time and space to be stored as a beloved memory. Create and curate a collection of these pictures in your mind. And when you remember and reflect, these will be a great source of comfort to you as you move through life.
You may be thinking, Well, that’s easier said than done. I have too much on the go right now. I can’t just stop what I’m doing for others. I’ve been in your shoes and know exactly where you’re coming from. But ask yourself, will I regret not making time for those I love?
I know that is a hard question to ponder. I get it. You have priorities as does everyone else.
It’s a challenge to balance work and play. Finding the time can be tough. But when you do make time, observe how you feel—joyful, content, grateful?

Dare to challenge yourself?
Try the Magical Moment Challenge:
Say “yes” to spontaneous invitations to gather with a loved one
Spend a few minutes with someone you love every day (i.e., sit beside them in silence, talk, have a cup of tea, just be in their presence)
Make plans with someone you miss or haven’t seen in a long time. Better yet, surprise them with your loving presence.
See if you can incorporate these “magical moments” into your life and examine how you feel. Be present. Enjoy with no regrets. When you do this, you’ll begin to notice how all your worries fade away. Everything else falls to the wayside. Go with the flow.
All that matters is love. All that matters is the treasure we store in our hearts and minds. You are a soul having a human experience—make use of that. Fill your cup.
Embrace the harmony around you.
