Is this Setback Happening for You?

See the Gift in the Setback

Life is a series of setbacks. When this happens do you freeze in fear, or do you gather the courage to rise above the setback?

I encountered a recent setback that put my life on pause for eight weeks. At first I was perplexed by what was happening. I thought to myself, why this and why now? ... I have a lot of things on the go, and I can’t afford to just drop it all now.

The truth is the more I resisted the setback, the more disharmony descended upon me. I had to get honest with myself because the more I focused on the “problem” the more it wreaked havoc on my mind, body, and spirit.

It was time for me to surrender and ask the question is this happening “for me” as a gift or a lesson?

The answer: it was both a gift and a lesson.

I know you’re curious as to what the setback is. I won’t leave you guessing in the dark.

I had injured my back and was in the most excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. Sleepless nights. Rude awakenings in the morning. Difficulty doing simple everyday tasks. I had to act fast as my condition was worsening.

I made appointments at several holistic practitioner clinics and began multiple ways to manage the pain. It was a rollercoaster as the discomfort fluctuated.

I asked myself, what else can I do to speed up my healing and recovery?

First and foremost, I prayed to God for a miracle of health and healing. And when the pain was unbearable, I’d pray: Holy Spirit heal me now (I’d say this on repeat more than a hundred times a day).

Second, I found a meditation and self-hypnosis program on the Empower You Unlimited Audio app that helps with rapid recovery from injury or illness. This program taught me to shift my attention to the body parts that felt normal and were pain free. I also learned to visualize a healing sanctuary space and imagined a golden light shining over the areas of my body that were affected. I did this daily for two months.

Third, I questioned what is it that I’m holding on to that could be causing this physical pain? After introspection, I discovered the truth. Some unhealed part of me had manifested this pain in my body. I wasn’t willing to hold onto that anymore. I had to surrender and let go. I loved myself too much. It wasn’t fair to my body to undergo this pain. It wasn’t fair seeing my loved ones worry.

Love and surrender are all I had to do to eliminate the fear of the pain. When I did this, I saw a significant improvement in my condition.

I had to think outside of the box. I couldn’t rely solely on the services of holistic practitioners. I had to shift into a “state of spirituality,” reminding myself, I am a spirit having a human experience. I am not the pain. This is temporary.

Fourth, throughout this ordeal, I spoke out loud, asking my guardian angels for help to get simple daily things done. I also had the support of my family. Their prayers, presence, advice, and helping to care for my child during this time meant the world to me.

Time is too precious. I had to heal and recover so that I could get back to my mission of serving others through my messages of peace.

So, when you are faced with a setback, remember to ask yourself, is this happening for me? Is this a gift?

When setbacks happen, we can’t help but feel helpless and fearful. But I encourage you to channel those negative vibrations into “love” and trust in your Divine Source/God/Lord/Buddha/Universe (whichever source you believe in), and all will work out in your favour.

Visualize yourself on the other end of that obstacle, thriving, peaceful, and joyful. Stay patient. Allow and don’t resist. Trust and have faith in a higher power. And before you know it, you will have arrived in a state of bliss.

You were made for greatness. Setbacks are temporary. You have the power to rise above it all.

Tap into the unseen, spiritual side of you. Go deep within. Harmony and healing await you.

I’d like to end with this … the conflict, division, and unrest in the world, along with the recent passing of Pope Francis is affecting everyone as a collective whole at this time in history. Now, more than ever, the repose soul of the Pope is calling for us to practice and spread unity, humility, and mercy to all of mankind.
